Job Description:
Position Summary:A Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) will
evaluate and treat residents/patients with temporary or long-term
speech, hearing, swallowing, and cognitive disabilities in
compliance with state and federal guidelines. They will evaluate
the resident's/patient's speech, language, cognitive-communication,
voice, swallowing, and fluency and develop treatment plans. They
will treat the residents/patients based on a physician's treatment
plan.Essential FunctionsScreens and evaluates patients/residents
and develops appropriate care plan.Under a physician's direction,
provides direct patient/resident treatment based on established
plan of care.Plans, directs, or conducts rehabilitative treatment
programs to restore communicative efficiency of individuals with
communication and/or swallowing or cognitive problems.Administers,
scores, and interprets specialized hearing and speech
tests.Instructs residents/patients, families, and caregivers to
monitor speech and provide ways to practice new skills.Completes
required forms and clinical records in accordance with company
policy and state and/or federal regulations.Documents in patient
records in an accurate and timely manner.Devises special tools and
treatments for the specific needs of patients.Provides
comprehensive and compassionate therapy services in a
sub-acute/skilled nursing facility setting.Works collaboratively
with other rehab therapists and nursing staff in a supportive
team-working environment.Maintains resident/patient privacy
pursuant to HIPAA.Ensures punctuality and regular attendance for
assigned shifts.Other FunctionsDevelops treatment plans, including
short and long-term goals and methods to achieve identified
goals.Communicates the resident's/patient's speech therapy program
to the family and/or guardian. Keeps written documentation
including evaluations, daily notes and weekly summaries.Performs
other duties as assigned.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesCurrent
knowledge of effective speech therapy techniques.Familiarity with
clinical needs of geriatric population.Strong clinical
capabilities.QualificationsEducation: Bachelor of Science degree in
Speech Language Pathology required.Licenses/Certification: Current
license in Speech Language Therapy as required by state law.Valid
CPR certification required.Experience: Six months experience in a
long-term care environment preferred.Compensation details: 39-55
